Preserving Historic Architectural Details One Cabin at a Time

Carlson Erickson Builders recently completed a new build in Ellison Bay for the Carson Family.  The original building was an authentic log cabin built in 1945 by a single woman with the help of some great friends who lived on either side.  Mary Carson's grandmother purchased the property in 1968 and continued to enjoy the cabin with her family.  As with any older northwoods structure, it was in need of some tender loving care.  Upon inspection and much soul searching, the hard decision was made to tear down and rebuild.  The entire original cabin was dismanteled carefully by Julian Hagen, shipped over to Washington Island and repurposed.  Some of the unique design features including the interior doors and fireplace were set aside to be used in the new space with the help of Master Carpenter, Linden Erickson, son of Don "Yukon" Erickson, who started the company back in 1969.  Every door had a different measurement and Linden worked his magic.

We take great pride in our crews and the incredible work they do to give each and every customer the home they envision.  The Carson Family will be forever grateful for Linden's immense talent and loving attention to keeping history alive here in Door County.
